Artisans of the Common Good
Artisans of the Common Good was the year-long theme at WLC, guiding all liturgical teaching and reflection. I was tasked with creating a visual identity that captured the phrase’s depth and diversity.
To represent the many expressions of an artisan—maker, healer, cultivator—I was inspired by a colorful prism of light, symbolizing the illumination of many paths and callings. At the center sits a hand, referencing both the literal hands of artisans and the hand of Christ. The red mark in the palm nods to the crucifixion and subtly echoes the fish symbol, tying the visual to Christian tradition.
While I created several renditions of the hand throughout the liturgical seasons, I incorporated vibrant, layered watercolors to reinforce both the prism imagery and the theme of inclusivity. The fluidity and blending of color allowed space for interpretation, evoking the diversity of gifts and stories within the community.
I paired the hand symbol with typography that feels both crafted and contemporary. In the word GOOD, the mark from the hand is embedded, bringing the elements together with intention and unity.
This identity was applied across a variety of assets, including worship visuals, printed booklets, weekly teaching guides, and digital interactives—serving as a visual thread throughout the year’s journey.
